Why Does The Alchemist Make You Think About Your Own Life?

Why Does The Alchemist Make You Think About Your Own Life?

Some books are finished when you reach the last page. Others stay with you long after you close the book. “The Alchemist” is one of those books. Paulo Coelho's story begins with a young shepherd named Santiago. He repeatedly dreams about a treasure near the Egyptian pyramids. At first, it seems like nothing more than a strange dream. But Santiago decides to follow it. That decision changes his life. He leaves behind the familiar world and begins a journey into the unknown. Along the way, he meets different people, faces unexpected difficulties, experiences loss, and gradually begins to understand himself. But the most fascinating part of the story is not simply the search for treasure. Santiago's journey makes the reader ask a much more personal question: “What is my dream?” Many people have something they truly want, but fear prevents them from taking the first step. Fear of failure, fear of losing what is familiar, and endless doubts can keep us exactly where we are. Santiago faces those fears on his journey. As you read, you want to discover where his path will lead and whether he will finally find the treasure. Every person he meets and every difficulty he experiences becomes part of a larger story. That is what makes the book difficult to put down. “The Alchemist” is not a long or complicated novel, but its ideas can stay in your mind for a long time. It does not simply tell you how to live. Instead, it makes you stop and ask yourself: “What do I truly want?” If you have ever had a dream that you kept postponing because of fear or uncertainty, this book may make you look at that dream differently. Perhaps you will open “The Alchemist” because you want to discover whether Santiago finds his treasure. But when you reach the final page, you may find yourself thinking about something much closer to home: “Where is my own treasure?” “The Alchemist” is a book you can finish reading, but you may not finish thinking about it.
